Breguet No. 2940/1624: A silver-cased astronomical, calendar and alarm carriage timepiece ; Paris, 1928 The hump-back case on sconce feet with chain handle to top and solid rear door, the silver engine-turned dial engraved with Roman chapters, the centre having subsidiary seconds beneath XII, blued steel and gold rolling moonphase by IX and alarm ring by III and signed Breguet on a gold reserve in the centre, the gilt engine-turned mask with wind and hand-set squares, the gold oval plaques beneath engraved Remontoir and Aiguilles , the calendar work below indicating day, date, month and year, similar plaques below engraved Breguet et Fils No.2940 , the going barrel movement numbered on the gilt back plate B.No.1624 with cut bi-metallic compensated balance with blued overcoiled spring to lever escapement, alarm wind square on backplate with strike on steel gong of square section; with original gold chained stoppers for the wind and hand-set holes, gilt double-ended key 6¼in.
