BOWYER, Robert (publisher). The Triumphs of Europe [An Illustrated Record of important events in the Annals of Europe, during the years 1812, 1813, 1814, & 1815]. London: T.Bensley for Robert Bowyer 1814 -15 [watermarked 1811-14]. 2 parts in one volume, 2° (463 x 320mm.). Two letterpress titles, one engraved map and two engraved plates, 19 hand-coloured aquatint plates (four double-page, but two of these with short marginal tears at the fold), extra-illustrated with a hand-coloured engraved map by Lieut. Tyler (repaired), titled The Battle of Waterloo (London: R.Ackermann, 1 Aug.1815). Modern red half-morocco, spine gilt, t.e.g., by Bayntun (Riviere) of Bath. Provenance : George John Carnegie, 9th Earl of Northesk (bookplate). In this issue of Bowyer's elastic work Tooley notes that there should be a directions to the binder slip, reading 'In the early Part of the Work a few copies of the First Part were sent out with the Title of Triumphs of Europe the binder is to take notice that the proper title is The Illustrated Record, and the other is to be cancelled.' This copy includes both. Cf. Tooley 97; cf.Abbey Life 352; sold (because of the numerous possible combinations of titles, texts and plates) not subject to return.
