Lot of 3. Burns, Walter Noble. The Saga of Billy the Kid. Garden City (NY): Garden City Publishing Co., Inc., 1926. 8vo, brown cloth, no dj, pictorial endpapers, 322pp. Surely there is a story to this volume that has been lost to time. On half-title, a manuscript note that includes the title line: I reckon she may read [The Saga of Billy the Kid] when the parson passes it on to her. Billy would have tipped his hat to her, he was that way. On back of title page is affixed (with mounting corners) a postcard of Billy the Kid, addressed to Mr. & Mrs. Cappel, Patterson, NJ. Opposite page has 2.5 x 4 in. silver gelatin photo with manuscript note: El Capitan - Mescalero N.M. I reckon Billy Seen Ole Capitan over at the Ruidoso p. 94. And at the end, a 2 x 3.75 in. photo with: Mescalero N.M. Th' Lone Tepee. Seems like ye jest cant fergit 'em onct ye seen 'em. Some shelf wear and wear to hinges. One dog-eared page. Very light toning. Cody, William F. The Life of Hon. William F. Cody Known as Buffalo Bill the Famous Hunter, Scout and Guide. Hartford (CT): Frank E. Bliss, 1879. 12mo, 3/4 leather, 365pp. Spots of toning on endpapers, spine repaired some time ago. Light toning of pages. Previous owner's stamp in several places. Thorp, Raymond W. Spirit Gun of the West: the Story of Doc W.F. Carver, plainsman, trapper, buffalo hunter, Medicine Chief of the Santee Sioux, World's champion marksman, and Originator of the American Wild West Show. Glendale (CA): Arthur H. Clark Company, 1957. Western Frontiermen Series VII. With advertising flyer for volume. 8vo, red cloth, gilt spine lettering, w/dj, 366pp. Scuffing and tears to dj, shelf wear to vol., especially spine ends. Internally near new; barely opened.
