Book of prayers by Ahmad al-Neirizi Safavid Persia, AH 1120/1708-9 AD and later in three parts, Persian manuscript on dark buff paper, 79ff. plus two flyleaves, each with 7ll. of elegant black naskh within gold clouds, punctuation and occasional notes in red, gold roundels between phrases, occasional words in gold, margined on ivory paper with black ruled outer margin, headings later in gold on blue cartouches within illuminated panels, (negligible smudging and staining, one quire loose from binding), opening folio with later illuminated heading and gold scrolling vine in the margin, f.19v. signed by Ahmad al-Neirizi and dated 1120, f.40v. similarly signed and dated AH 1138/1725-6 AD, f.61r. similarly signed and dated Jumada II AH 1128/May 1715-16 AD, ff.62-79 in a different hand and dated on the final folio Shawwal AH 1227/October 1812 AD, contemporary-style black lacquer binding painted with gold flowering sprays within minor ribbon margins and a cartouche border of religious phrases (minor repairs) folio 8 x 5in. (20.3 x 12.8cm.) text 3¾ x 2in. (9.5 x 5.1cm.)
