BONAVENTURA, St . Commentarius in secundum librum Sententiarum Petri Lombardi. Venice: Reynaldus de Novimagio and Theodorus de Reynsburch, 1477. Chancery folio, 275 x 200 mm. (10 13/16 x 7 7/8 in.), nineteenth-century English crimson hard-grain morocco, covers panelled in gilt and blind, spine gilt in six compartments, turn-ins gilt, g.e., joints and extremities rubbed, lacking first blank leaf, small loss to opening initial S from adhesive spot on facing flyleaf causing slight loss to a word on verso, 1 to 2 small wormholes through first 3 quires, marginal wormholes to last few quires, lower forecorner of fol. y10 cut away, scattered erasures by an early annotator obscuring a few letters, first leaf a trifle soiled, minor marginal dampstaining to first and last few leaves . Collation: a-l10 m8 8 n-p P q-t10 v8 x10 y-z8 aa12 bb-kk8 ll-mm6. 335 leaves (of 336, lacking a1 blank). Fol. a2 in the first state (cf. GW). Types: 2:150G (first words of sections); 1:77G (text). Double column, 50 lines, initial spaces with guide letters. Rubricated: large opening divided blue Lombard initial S with elaborate red filigree infilling and flourishing extending into the margins ( upper extension shaved ), alternating blue and red Lombard 2-line initials, paragraph marks in red; a few chapter headings and scattered marginal paragraph numbering and corrections supplied by the rubricator.
