Commissioned by G. Maigret (1573-1633), Augustinian theologian and superior of the "Provincia Belgica" of his Order at the time. "The Augustinian series of Bolswert and Galle exerted tremendous influence around the world. In the Americas it served as a model to several series on the life of Saint Augustine" (Pessca). Ref.
