XLV, [3], 384; XXXIII, [3], 315, [1] (of 3, wanting the last blank); XXV, [3], 334, wanting the last blank; xxix, [3], 348, [2] (of 4, wanting the last blank) pages. Woodcut printer's device on title pages, woodcut head-pieces and tail-pieces. Light foxing, some small wormholes on few leaves but a fair copy. Nineteenth-century vellum, on the covers the lion of S. Marco in tempera on azure ground in a laurel wreath, inked title on the spines. Beautiful copy of remarkable painted binding of this collection of 117 stories edited by the venetian Girolamo Francesco Zanetti, testifying as were still in vogue, in the eighteenth-century Venice, the ancient novels, literary and popular. Among the authors, Sebastiano Erizzo, Giovanni Battista Giraldi, Matteo Bandello, Masuccio Salernitano and, naturally, Giovanni Boccaccio and Franco Sacchetti. PASSANO, 326; GAMBA, 2729; MELZI II, 250.
