BLASCHE, Bernhard Heinrich]. Papyro-Plastics, or the Art of Modelling in Paper; being an Instructive Amusement for Young Persons of Both Sexes. From the German, by D. Boileau. Second Edition, Greatly Enlarged and Improved, London: Boosey and Sons, 1825. Small 4° (144 x 120mm). Half title, hand-coloured lithographed frontispiece and 22 uncoloured plates, 7 folding. (Occasional light staining and spotting.) Original yellow boards with printed paper label on upper cover (joints split, rubbed, small inkstain on upper cover). Osborne I, 224: "First published in 1824." Osborne here identifies the first English edition - the true first edition of the work was published in Germany in 1819 under the title Der Papierformer oder Anleitung. The author confesses in his preface that many of the paper figures in the first English edition proved incorrect and so have been redrawn for the second. Provenance : contemporary, partly illegible, presentation inscription on front free endpaper signed "Aunt Maria Wright".
