BINDING -- Office de la Semaine Sainte en latin & en françois, à l'usage de Rome & de Paris . Paris: widow Mazières and Garnier, 1745. 8° (195 x 125mm). 3 engraved plates by J.B. Scotin, single rule page-border. (Title lightly soiled, occasional faint spotting, heavier in preface, short marginal tear in 2K2 just into text, without loss.) Contemporary red morocco, covers richly gilt in pointillé style, BOUND FOR LOUIS DAUPHIN OF FRANCE AND HIS WIFE , with their arms at centre [Olivier 2525], gilt spine, lettered in one compartment, gilt and marbled edges, brocade-paper pastedowns (extremities faintly rubbed, very minor expert repairs to arms on upper cover, head of spine and corners). Provenance: Louis Dauphin of France (1729-1765) and his wife Marie-Thérèse-Antoinette-Raphaële, infanta of Spain (1726-1746, married in 1745, died in childbirth 23 July 1746) -- Jean Emile Dubois de Richmont (ink inscription on title verso) -- Hans Fürstenburg (booklabel, sold in 1974 to:) -- Dr Otto Schäfer (sale Sotheby's, 8 December 1995, lot 459).
