BIBLE, New Testament in Greek. Novum Iesu Christi Domini Nostri Testamentum . Sedan: Ioannes Iannoni, 1628 [March 1629]. 32° (78 x 39mm), text in Greek. (Title with old repair, margins cut close, occasionally affecting text, without 2 final blanks.) Early 18th-century English black turkey, covers with narrow gilt-panels filled with star and flower tools and tool combining four circles, the panels surrounded by circular whorls and larger side-pieces, gilt spine, gilt edges (joints splitting, small chips to covers, lower corners bumped, spine faded and with wormhole at base). Provenance : Roger Cotes (1682-1716, Latin note of his gift to:) -- Harrold (signature) -- Thomas Philip Earl de Grey (bookplate). Although Cotes died young, he is remembered for editing the second edition of Newton's Principia (1713). Darlow & Moule 4676: 'the smallest Greek text ever printed, with the exception of Pickering's miniature edition of 1828'.
