Venice: Franciscus Renner, de Heilbronn, 1483. Median 4to, mostly in 8's and 12's, two gatherings in 6 and 10. (215 x 155 mm). 476 signed leaves, 50 lines and headline, double column, Gothic type, floriated initial to incipit , rubricated initials and highlights supplied in red and blue, some underlining. Old vellum boards rebacked in vellum in the 18th century, spine lettered and numbered. Condition: dampstaining to margins, and some worming to gutter, light browning and soiling, final leaf with lower right corner torn away and laid down on paper; vellum soiled and repaired. Provenance: German library stamp dated 1851 and inscription to incipit ; contemporary annotations in various hands. One of the earliest small format printed bibles, and thus more easily portable.
