Half titles, engraved frontispiece, dedication, list of subscribers, text in double column, 69 engraved plates by W. Artaud, William Hamilton Angelica Kauffman, P. J. de Loutherbourg, John Opie Joshua Reynolds Thomas Stothard and others, vignettes. (One plate detached and a few leaves heavily spotted in vol. I, occasional light spotting and browning.) Finely-bound in contemporary straight-grained crimson morocco to an elaborate neo-classical design in gilt and blind, spines gilt in compartments, gilt edges, watered silk liners (a few strips worn, extremities rubbed). Provenance : "A gift to A. S. White from his Father in Law Luke White Esq. of Woodlands" (contemporary inscription on title of vol. one). Luke White is listed amongst the subscribers to the work.
