Contemporary panelled calf gilt, edges gauffered and gilt concealing a FORE-EDGE DECORATION IN PEN-AND-INK AND COLOR depictiong flowers on either side of a heart enclosing a statement: "a Vertuous Woman is a Crown to her Husband 1668" (Prov. 12:4) (joints and covers worn, covers with old dampstain); modern slipcase. Provenance: Estelle Doheny (bookplate; her sale Christie's 17 October 1988, lot 1292).
