Mr Crowther was a great collector and admirer of Leach's work, loaning several pieces from his collection to the artist's 1977 retrospective at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. Comparable examples of the present vase are held in the collections of the Leicester City Museums and the Cooper Hewitt, New York.
