Tringham and others and 24 engraved pages of calligraphic text engraved by T. Hutchinson after W. Chinnery, preface by Thomas Bellamy and SIGNED BY HIM. (?Lacks title, occasional spotting and staining, final emblem torn and repaired on verso, heavy stain to final leaf of calligraphy.) Contemporary calf-backed marbled boards (spine repaired). Provenance : numerous early signatures and inscriptions relating to the Collis and Pudney families. "... this little Book will undoubtedly be found of infinite Advantage to such Persons, as either cannot write at all, or but very indifferently, and have no Opportunity of being instructed by an able Master; for here they will find not only all the Characters made use of in Printing; but those, likewise, in all the Hands that are most useful, and most practised throughout Great-Britain in the Way of Trade and Business" (Thomas Bellamy in his Preface to the work).
