Beschreibung:

Bedford Vehicles was a subsidiary of Vauxhall Motors, itself the British subsidiary of General Motors(GM), established in 1930; and was a leading international truck manufacturer with substantial export sales of light, medium, and heavy trucks throughout the world. The Bedford PC was based on the 1939 Vauxhall 12/4 Light 6 saloon, which appeared briefly immediately after the Second World War. The front end was all steel whilst the rear body was constructed of wood with steel paneling. Small businesses were quick to order the PC which was, by the standards of the day, quick, handled well and good value at just over £300 for the van. The example offered here today is a 1950 Bedford PC Van with only three owners from new and has covered a believed genuine 48,000 miles. The first owner, a Mr. F. Haddocks of Kent, was a pig farmer and used the car for many years carrying out its daily duties. The current owner found NKJ987 a few years ago in a reported rust free condition, having been dry stored for many years. A sympathetic but extensive restoration was commissioned and included: a complete engine rebuild, a professional re-spray in authentic cream with dark green wings, a re-upholstered interior, new roof covering, new wiring loom, new radiator, new brake parts and new cross ply tyres. Complete with MoT test certificate until September 2011, original number plate and buff log book, this highly original Bedford has been restored beautifully and the vendor reports that the van drives well and is very reliable for every day use. The Bedford PC series has become hugely collectable in recent years as simply put; very few examples survived their work-horse lifestyles.
