BARNUM, P.T. Autograph letter signed ("P.T. Barnum") to "Dear Sir," New York, 3 February 1865. One 8vo sheet of Barnum's American Museum stationary, the entire left column of the verso printing an elaborate advertisement for Barnum's American Museum ("...It is literally the people's favorite and its immense Saloons are crowded with delighted citizens and strangers, even at seasons when all other places of public resort stand desolate, solitary and alone..."); folded to make four pages, text on verso only; folded again for mailing; edges and folds lightly browned; last blank "page" heavily soiled, with reminants of cellotape removal visible at top edge . Barnum asks one of his clerks to locate a certain gentleman, a "Mr. James Keathram [who] is one of the 5 surviving Revolutionary Pensioners and is said to be residing at present in California..."
