BARCELONA 1759 -- Mascara Real executada por los Colegios y Gremios de la Cuidad de Barcelona para festejar el feliz desseado arribo de nuestros Augustos Soberanos Dn Carlos tercero, y Da Maria Amalia de Saxonia, con el Real Prncipe e Infantes . Barcelona: Thomas Piferrer, 1764.
BARCELONA 1759 -- Mascara Real executada por los Colegios y Gremios de la Cuidad de Barcelona para festejar el feliz desseado arribo de nuestros Augustos Soberanos Dn Carlos tercero, y Da Maria Amalia de Saxonia, con el Real Prncipe e Infantes . Barcelona: Thomas Piferrer, 1764. Oblong 2 o (495 x 650 mm). Engraved title, three dedication leaves each with engraved headpiece, 11 engravings by J.A. DEFEHRT after FRANCISCO TRAMULLAS, each with facing letterpress text (long repaired tears or marginal repairs to most). Modern brown morocco gilt; slipcase. A sumptuous publication on the celebrations in Barcelona for the entry of CARLOS III, after his ascension to the throne in 1759. Carlos had sailed for Spain from Italy, landing in Barcelona on 17 October 1759); he assumed government upon entering Madrid on 9 Dec 1759. Tramulles probably met Defehrt during the year he spent in Paris. DeFehrt, who was born in Huring, worked on the engravings for Diderot's Encyclopedie.... The original plates for this work are kept in the former Museum of Graphic Arts of Barcelona. The scenery for la Màscara is by the Tramulles brothers, Manuel and Francisco, who also directed the work; the text is probably related to the Cordelles School.
