BARBIER, George, illustrator (1882-1932). Le Bonheur du Jour ou Les Graces á la Mode . Paris: Chez Meynial, [1924]. Oblong 2 o (310 x 447 mm). 16 plates and cover illustration coloured in pochoir by Henri Reidel after George Barbier, illustrated title page and illustrations in the text. (Some light spotting.) Loose as issued in the original printed paper wrappers. George Barbier, one of the great French illustrators of the early 20th century, also designed jewelry, glass and wallpaper, costumes for the Folies Bergére, and sets for Erté. These plates reflect the luxurious and exotic fashions of the day. The title and plates are dated 1920-1924, but the work was not published until 1924. RARE: According to American Book Prices Current , only three complete copies have sold in the last 20 years. Carteret IV-58.
