Baku had by thelate 19th century become the global centre of the oil industry, which was accompanied by a surge in sea trade. Before the Bakinskii dock was built Baku lacked the deep docks needed to service increasingly large ships. Scenes include general views of the site, and a number of views of the machinery and pumps used to control water levels in the dock. WorldCat records no other copy of this work.
