BACON, Francis, Viscount St. Albans. The Historie of the Raigne of King Henry the Seventh , London: W. Standsby for Matthew Lownes, and William Barret, 1622. Small 2°, engraved frontispiece portrait by John Payne engraved title, woodcut head-pieces and initials (clean tears to B1, E3, F 1 - 2, all laminated without loss, occasional light thumb-soiling or spotting), 19th-century calf stamped in blind and gilt (rebacked with old spine relaid, somewhat rubbed and scuffed). Provenance : St. George's Chapel, Windsor, arms stamped in blind on covers and bookplate on verso of title; Dr. John Harker, Lancaster, bookplate. FIRST EDITION with "Souldiers" on line 12, page 3. Gibson 116a; STC 1159. With Edward, Lord Herbert of Cherbury's The Life and Reign of King Henry the Eighth (London, 1672), and one other historical work. (3)
