BACKGROUND PROVENANCE IN RESPECT OF THE FOLLOWING 5 LOTS - Edward and Elizabeth (Lilly) Bird-Jones lived in Alexandria and Edward worked as a tailor and cutter from 1898 to about 1908 and then worked in Constantinople, Turkey until returning to the UK in 1930. He was the second son of William Jones the tailor who had a shop at 5 The Square, Caernarfon. During the time they were in Constantinople many Russians escaped from the Revolution in Russia and brought with them silver, jewellery, carpets, etc. They sold many of these items to raise money to live - hence my grandparents acquiring various items from shops in Constantinople. SMALL RUSSIAN SILVER CONTAINERS (2) - the smaller on three ball feet and a set of six English silver coffee spoons, Birmingham 1924, 1.1ozt
