New Guide for the Hotel, Bar, Restaurant, Butler, and Chef, Being a Hand Book for the Management of Hotel and American Bars, and the Manufacture of the Principal New and Fashionable Drinks..., two parts in 1, 1st edition, 1885, half-title with short fore-edge tear, scarce light spotting, last few leaves slightly finger-soiled, endpapers renewed, original front free endpaper bound at front, with ink manuscript authorial presentation inscription on verso, dated 1888, original red cloth, with gilt lettering and black tooling, rebacked with original spine relaid, board edges somewhat faded, corners showing, 8vo (Qty: 1) Cordon Bleu is the pseudonym of Emilie Lebour-Fawssett. A scarce book, apparently the first book to describe the Fred Collins Fizz. The first part deals with home brewing, the manufacture of wines, spirits etc., the preparation and manipulation of, with the newest names... American drinks etc. The second part treats of all branches of cookery, confectionery etc. This item is a presentation copy, with the manuscript inscription reading "To Mr John Cotterill (?), with compliments from the authors. Trusting this work may be of use to him in his profession. 1888. Bacchus & Cordon Bleu."
