Browne was mentioned in a despatch from Field Marshal Sir Douglas Haig on 16 March 1919, a little creased and soiled, oblong 8vo, plus a related typed transcription relating to the presentation of the Royal Humane Society's medal to S.D. Browne, originally published in 'The Pioneer', 23 January 1886, one page, slightly creased and soiled, 4to Brigadier General Sherwood Dighton Browne, CB, CBE (1862-1947) was the son of General Sir Samuel James Browne VC (1824-1901), best known as the namesake of the Sam Browne belt.
