A pre-printed commission signed 'George RI', 3 June 1915, appointing Sherwood Dighton Browne Colonel (temporary Brigadier General) to be an additional member of the military division of the third class or companions of the Order of the Bath, additionally countersigned by Lord Kitchener at foot, 2 pp. with integral blank, wafer seal at head of first page, slightly creased, folio, together with a printed commission dated 3 June 1919, appointing Browne as Commander of the military division of the Order of the British Empire, printed facsimile signatures of King George V and Edward, Prince of Wales, some soiling and creasing, both folio, plus a related document with printed signature of Winston Churchill noting that Colonel S.D. Browne was mentioned in a despatch from Field Marshal Sir Douglas Haig on 16 March 1919, a little creased and soiled, oblong 8vo, plus a related typed transcription relating to the presentation of the Royal Humane Society's medal to S.D. Browne, originally published in 'The Pioneer', 23 January 1886, one page, slightly creased and soiled, 4to Brigadier General Sherwood Dighton Browne, CB, CBE (1862-1947) was the son of General Sir Samuel James Browne VC (1824-1901), best known as the namesake of the Sam Browne belt.
