lot of 5. Includes Bierstadt, Albert (1830-1902), Hudson River School painter known for Western scenes. ANS, 4pp, 4.5 x 7", New York, March 12, 1889. Addressed to Mrs. Harrison just after the move to the White House. In this note Bierstadt tells Mrs. Harrison that he has taken the liberty of ordering beef tea, in part because there was little to be found in the White House (not stocked yet) and in part because the Harrisons had to stand in some inclement weather to "...view the passing regiments," clearly a reference to the inaugural parade. He continues: The President will doubtless recognise some reminders of our visit to the Yellowstone Park in the upper hall of the house. This suggests that in addition to Bierstadt paintings in over 4 dozen museums, the White House has a few of its own. He finishes with a "plug" for Sidney Everett to be assigned a position in the State Department. PLUS on same page, clipped signature of Frederick Dent Grant, the President's son, approx. 3 x 5", n.d., n.p. Skinner, Otis (1858-1942), actor. ANS, 1p, 5 x 8" letterhead "Tour of Otis Skinner. 1894-95," Washington, Feb. 2, 1895. Addresses to Morris Ross, concerns his schedule for the next fortnight. PLUS Barrett, Lawrence (1838-1891), actor and author. ANS, 1p, 5 x 7.75", letterhead with monogram "B," Minneapolis, Mar. 23 [1887 in pencil in another hand]. Addressed to Mr. & Mrs. Ross thanking them for the offer of hospitality. AND Morris, Felix, late 19th century actor and writer. ANS, 1p, 5.5 x 9", Chicago, Jan. 6, 1894. On Tremont House Stationery. Addressed to Mr. Morris Ross, concerning another copy of a book he is sending. Condition:First and second are mounted on heavy paper, the first with tabs so all pages can be read, and show light even toning, else excellent to very good. Other 3 not mounted. Third has light toning, excellent. Fourth has small toned area along right edge, else very good. Fifth shows moderate toning with heavier toning on right edge, and toned area on back, small piece missing from lower left corner that does not impact text, else very good.
