If it were not for the fact that I hate doing interviews, I should be very happy to oblige your request", one page, 26 January 1976); Paddy Chayefsky (three typed letters, one declining Linda's request for an interview, three pages, 27 April 1978-19 April 1979); Alan Bates (typed letter apologising for missing an appointment for an interview, one page, 5 February 1980); Roald Dahl (typed letter declining Linda's invitation to write for The Guardian "you know that I don't do any of these sort of pieces or indeed any writing to order.
