AUTOGRAPH COLLECTION -- Jacobite and Perth family. A collection of letters and manuscripts, 17th and 18th Century, comprising letters and documents with the signatures of William, Duke of Cumberland (2), George Wade (2, including a document signed, 5 December 1745), Henry Hawley (January 1746), Mary of Modena (wife of James II, thanks to Cardinal Colloredo for condolences on the King's death), Maria Clementina (wife of the Old Pretender, 1733), Charles 9th Lord Cathcart, William Pulteney, Lord Chancellor Hardwicke and a number of others, also a document signed by General Monck (3 November 1651, a pass for Sir John Drummond, son of the Earl of Perth), altogether approximately 48 loose letters and documents ; and a bound manuscript of Jacobite texts and songs, including an early version of 'Towneley's Ghost', vellum boards, 4to; an album, containing manuscript texts of 14 Jacobite songs, and 5 transcripts of proclamations and letters of Charles Edward Stuart (two printed), and others, approximately 26 documents in total ; with two other bound volumes containing transcripts of deeds, and bills of Perth family interest.
