Provenance : Duke of Arenberg's library at Nordkirchen (bookplate). Three early works of Greek scholarship produced by the publishing house "Ad Insigne Pinus." Hoeschel, one of the foremost German Greek scholars of his time, was librarian of the Bibliotheca Augustana and is the most famous pupil of Hieronymus Wolf. With the financial assistance of the wealthy member of the City Council, Marcus Welser (1558-1614), himself a scholar of renown, Hoeschel founded the press known under its address "Under the Pine Tree." The press was active from 1594 to 1619, specialising in the production of original Greek and Latin texts, all based on unpublished manuscripts held in the Augsburg City Library. The Catalogus is in second edition, edited by Hoeschel based on the first edition published by his mentor Hieronymus Wolf anonymously in 1575. This enlarged edition descibes 122 manuscripts.
