(46.0 x 35.5 cm), framed. Condition: Retouch, lined. Provenance: Mrs. John Courtland Knowles, to Mrs. Aylsworth Brown, to N. David Scotti, to the Estate of N. David Scotti, Providence, Rhode Island. N.B. A copy of a registration form submitted to Gibson Danes at Yale University and signed by Mrs. Aylsworth Brown in 1949 accompanies the lot. The form makes mention of a fragmentary label on the frame from "Museum of Fine Arts/Exhibition of Wm Morris Hunt," which is no longer extant. An exhibition of Hunt's works was held at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, December 20, 1879 to January 31, 1880.
