While the linear treatment in this image and the tilt of the woman's head evoke the female figures of Ingres, the subject is less idealized than those in Ingres's art, as the artist captured her serious expression of deep, inward thought. There is a 3/4 diameter area of inpaint in the lower right corner. There is a L-shaped repaired tear approximately 9 x 4 inches in the lower left quadrant. There is no further restoration visible under UV light.
