Athletics - A black Birchfield Harriers short-sleeved shirt, with crew neck collar and embroidered badge comprising a leaping stag, worked in gold silk thread, above the motto 'Fleet and Free'; a pair of black and white striped shorts; and a set of under-garments; a Wirral A.C. short-sleeved shirt, grey-green (faded from blue) and white, embroidered ''W.A.C.'; a Wolseley A.C. short-sleeved shirt, green with pale yellow crew-neck collar and sleeve ends, embroidered 'W.A.C.'; a Warrington A.C. short-sleeved shirt, white with a red crew-neck collar and sleeve ends, embroidered 'W.A.C.'; a black Birchfield Harriers shirt (lacking emblem); a sepia-tone black and white photograph of the Birchfield Harriers' Championship Winning Team, circa 1913, 47cm x 56cm, framed and glazed; a sepia-tone black and white photograph of E.Green; a programme for the St. George and Oakengates twenty-eighth Athletic Sports meeting, 20th August 1912; a programme for the National Cross-Country Championship, 8th March 1913; six other Athletic programmes, circa 1917-21; and a silver-plated cup, the body inscribed 'London Athletic Club', the handles formed as outstretched wings, and the stem entwined by serpents, 19.5cm high. Note: The Birchfield Harriers A.C. was formed in 1877 and first won the National Cross Country Championships in 1880. Mr E. Green was in the winning team of 1907, 1909, and 1913 (he is named in the programme for that year included in this lot), and in the team that finished second in 1908 and third in 1910.
