Collection of 20 Astronaut and Nasa signatures on one sheet, collected during their 1964 Phoenix visit.
Pheonix: 3 May 1964. One sheet of Desert Rose Motel stationery (275 x 210 mm). Condition: strip of top margin trimmed away, light spotting. Includes signatures of, in this order: 1) Walter Cunningham 2) Bill Anders 3) Scott Carpenter 4) Ted H. Foss (administrator) 5) US Clayton (?) 6) Gene Cernan 7) Alan Bean 8) Neil Armstrong 9) Clifton Williams 10) Eliot See 11) Roger Chafee 12) Miles Collins 13) Theodore Freemen 14) Don Eisele 15) Charlie Bassett 16) Dave Scott 17) Richard Gordon 18) Alan Shepard 19) Rusty Schweikart 20) Buzzy Aldrin an extremely rare and impressive collection of american astronaut autographs, gathered at an important moment in the history of space exploration. These autographs were collected in the spring of 1964 when NASA brought 14 astronauts and other administrators to Arizona to tour the Grand Canyon in order to simulate the surface of the moon. Rarely are the signatures of these important men seen together. Several of these astronauts accomplished great feats in space, including Armstrong and Aldrin, the first two men to walk on the moon, Scott Carpenter, an original Mercury 7 member, and Alan Shepard, the first American in space. Sadly, several of these astronauts died in space disasters or in training missions, many before the 1969 moonwalk, such as Clifton Williams, Elliot See, Roger Chafee, Ted Freeman, and Charlie Bassett. An assembly such as this from the height of the space program is rare, and the scarcity of some of these signatures is remarkable.
