Read more John Bellany (b.1942) Lot 57 - 'Port Seton' Estimate: €3,000 - €5,000 Born into a fishing family in Port Seton, Scotland, John Bellany studied at Edinburgh College of Art and was one of a group of young artists who seemed to herald a revival of the early modernist Scottish Colourists. Over time he developed a mature, magic realist, life-enhancing style that recalls aspects of Max Beckman's often autobiographical approach to narrative painting. Following a dark period in the 1970s his palette lightened considerably later on. Here he recalls his childhood home.
