Contemporary blind-stamped leather over thin wooden boards, preserving a number of original unopened folds, brass catchplates for two clasps (rebacked with orignal spine laid down, worn, without the clasps). Provenance : unidentified woodcut armorial bookplate; Constance, Capuchins (erased 17th-century inscription, title page). Artemidorus' work on the interpretation of dreams is the most important ancient work on this subject. His sources included the writings of previous authors, especially Democritus and Aristotle, as well as his own collection of dreams. The Christian Neoplatonist Synesius was also interested in the occult and in divination by dreams.
