ART & ARCHITECTURE -- MOÜKE, Francesco. Serie di ritratti di celebri pittori dipinti di propria mano che esistono nella Imperial Galleria di Firenze [i.e. vols. VII-X of Gori's Museo Fiorentino ]. Florence: Stamperia Moükiana, 1752-62. 4 vols., 2° (465 x 350 mm). Half-title in vol. I, 4 general titles of the Museo Fiorentino printed in red and black with engraved vignettes, titles to the Serie di ritratti with engraved devices in each volume, 220 engraved portraits of Renaissance painters, historiated intials and engraved illustrations at beginning and end of each painter's life (title and first blank leaves in vol. IV creased, general titles lightly browned.) Contemporary morocco-backed calf, red edges (a few heads or tails of spines chipped, extremities very rubbed, some scuffing, lacking lettering-pieces). Provenance : Roehampton (inscription with shelfmark).

The work was published by Antonio Francesco Gori (1691-1757) between 1731 and 1766. The Serie di ritratti was issued as volume VII-X: "La collezione dei ritratti in numero di 220 eseguita quanto meglio il potevasi in opera si vasta, e puó ritenersi fra le migliori", (Cicognara). The vignettes on titles and the portraits are engraved by Campiglia and Gregory. Brunet III, 1963; Cicognara 3417. (4)
