Arne Jacobsen (b. Copenhagen 1902, d. s.p. 1971) Important unique prototype circular dining table. Solid Oregon pine table top, with extension and two extra leaves. Light metal fittings. Grey painted tubular metal legs. Designed and made approx. 1951 by Rud. Rasmussen cabinetmakers. Matching set of six Oregon pine “Ant” chairs with grey painted tubular metal legs. These made 1982 by Fritz Hansen Table: H. 71.5 cm. Diam. 112 cm. Leaves: W. resp. 49 and 68 cm. (7) Provenance: Arne Jacobsen Hence by descent in the family. Acquired from family by current owner. The table was designed approx. 1951 for Arne Jacobsen’s private residence in Søholm. The table worked as a prototype for the model that later went into production for Fritz Hansen The table was as shown in photos originally used with a set of six “Ant” chairs. The original set of chairs was replaced by the family around 1981 with the present chairs.
