With folding map, 16 photographic plates, and text illustrations. (Folding map with a few short tears repaired verso, spotting to a few leaves, Original publisher's green pictorial cloth (spine soiled; slight dampstaining to front cover). Provenance : J. H. Donaldson (bookplate). FIRST EDITION. Armitage sailed as navigator and Second in Command under Scott on the Discovery Expedition of 1901-04 to Antarctica.
