Provenance : signed autograph dedication by Daniel Heinsius "Amplissimo Clarissimoque viro D. Aelio Everardo Vorstio Magnifico Illustris. Bat. Acad. Rectori testandae observandae d.d. Daniel Heinsius" (inscription on endpaper opposite title). DEDICATION COPY, SIGNED BY HEINSIUS. First Elzevier edition, the first to contain Heinsius's important annotations. Heinsius (1581-1655) was a celebrated Dutch philologist and classical scholar of his time. Everard van Voorst (1565-1624) was professor of medicine and chancellor of the University of Leiden.
