With works by Galenus (A.D. 129-?199), Theophrastus (ca. 370- ca. 287 B.C.), Philo Judaeus (ca. 30 B.C.-A.D. 45), Alexander Aphrodisiensis (fl. early 3rd century A.D.) and others, edited by Aldus, Thomas Linacre, Justin Decadyos, Gabriel Braccius and others. Venice: Aldus Manutius 1st November 1495, February 1497, 29th January 1497, 1st June 1497, June 1498, five parts in 5 volumes, median 2°, editio princeps of all texts, numerous woodcut floral and interlaced headpieces and Greek initials. Part I, 233 leaves only (of 234, lacking final leaf, s6, each leaf with paper repair at inner margin, excepting last leaf s5 with laminated repair, in the case of a few leaves the repair affects the first character of each line of text, library blind stamp on title and cancellation stamp on title verso, accession stamp at foot of A2, G8v and a1r slightly soiled, p8 torn at inner margin, blind stamp repeated on s5, verso of s5 soiled), late 19th-century half morocco covers (detached), edges gilt. Provenance : Berlin Collection Part II, 300 leaves (title soiled at margins, with blind stamp and earlier Belgian Jesuit library stamp, also partially detached and worn at inner margin, beginning and end gatherings becoming detached, final leaf, K6, torn at inner margin, A7 spotted), 17th-century vellum (soiled, crudely rebacked in pigskin). Provenance : Jesuit College Brussels, 1636 (title inscription and later stamp); Berlin Collection Part III, 466 leaves only (lacks inserted leaf between folios 400 and 401, title and a few other leaves repaired at inner margin, final two quires with wormhole affecting two lines of text and several paper repairs, folio 374 holed with very slight loss, occasional light marginal worming to earlier leaves, very occasional staining), modern vellum. Kraus (collation note) Part IV. 519 leaves only (of 520, lacking blank second leaf, with 3O 5- 8 misbound before 3P2, and colophon leaf, 3P10, bound after 3P1, 3A1 slightly torn at inner margin, 3P9 a little soiled and with small burn hole above the first line just affecting one or two characters recto and verso), contemporary calf (upper cover detached).
