Antwerp School, circa 1630 A giltmetal-mounted ebony and tortoiseshell Cabinet with rectangular top above two doors inset with panels depicting the Nativity and the Adoration of the Magi, after Rubens, enclosing eight amaranth lined drawers flanking a central door and two drawers, all inset with panels depicting scenes from the New Testament by a follower of Frans Francken II. The door is flanked by columns and encloses a mirrored colonnaded interior with an ivory and tortoiseshell parquetry floor, above a long drawer inset with the Flight into Egypt, the figures after Rubens. The base with triple panelled mahogany lined drawer decorated with panels depicting scenes from the New Testament, on cabriole legs on claw and ball feet The main part of the cabinet is Antwerp School, mid-17th Century, however the stand, case and doors decorated with copies after Rubens probably date to the 19th Century overall 73 x 40 7/8in. (186.7 x 103.8cm.) (closed, including stand)
