Two engraved titles and 33 full-page plates (4 double-page) by PIETER VAN DER BORCHT after drawings by CORNELIS FLORIS II and JOOS DE MOMPER after the designs of MARTIN DE VOS, two pages of musical printing. (Lower blank corner of K3 renewed.) Contemporary Dutch flexible vellum, gilt-armorial arms on front cover, initials F W in stamp on back cover (front endpapers renewed, some light soiling). ERNEST (1553-1595), Archduke of Austria, became Governor of the Catholic provinces in the Low Countries after the death of the Prince of Parma in 1592. This work celebrates his visit to Antwerp in June-July 1594. The Archduke's fame was glorious, though brief: he died in Brussels in February 1595, and a funeral oration closes this work. Bochius celebrates the entry of ISABELLA CLARA EUGENIA of Spain (1566-1633) and her husband ALBERT VII (1559-1621), Archduke of Austria (as Governor of the Provinces), into Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent and Valenciennes.
