ANTHONY WHISHAWb.1930VILLAGE, SIERRA DE MONGO signed; also signed, titled, dated 1963-1964 and inscribed on the reverse oil on board 90 by 121cm.; 35½ by 47½in.Condition ReportThe board appears sound. The board bows slightly. There are painted pinheads visible to the extreme edges at intervals, in line with the Artist's materials. There is a small area of cracking with an associated area of loss and associated lifting towards the centre of the right edge, with one or two possible further more minor instances elsewhere. There is flattening to some of the impasto tips. There is a further speck of loss in the lower left quadrant. There is evidence of remnants of paper adhered to impasto areas in a few places. There is some light surface dirt and studio detritus, and a few small accretions to the paint surface.. This excepting, the work appears in very good overall condition. Inspection under Ultraviolet light reveals some slight instances of fluorescence, in line with the Artist's materials. The work is floated in a painted wooden frame.
