A very fine and historically interesting 14K pink and yellow gold, enamel, diamond, sapphire, emerald and ruby-set presentation watch, made for King Ludwig II of Bavaria Unsigned, no. 26'508, circa 1875 Nickel-finished lever movement, 17 jewels, bimetallic compensation balance, pink gold cuvette, white enamel dial, Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds, circular yellow gold case with pink gold band and pendant, covers decorated with translucent royal blue enamel on bark-finished background, surrounded by a raised and engraved scroll and foliage border, front set with the two colour gold rampant Bavarian lion holding a sword and a sceptre and the blue, red, yellow and black enamelled Bavarian coat-of-arms, the reverse with applied gold-mounted diamond-set monogram of the King centred by his diamond, sapphire, ruby and emerald-set crown, foliage-shaped engraved and diamond-set bow, unsigned 53 mm. diam.
