Andrée responds to an article in the editor's most recent paper in which it assumed that he has abandoned his attempt: "you will permit me to rectify this assumption; in truth I have already received the necessary sum to renew this attempt next year, and I hope that nothing will prevent me from realizing it. The observations which were made last year prove that this enterprise may certainly be realized ... I hope that your countrymen will follow this project to its end; science will gain from it."
