Formerly described as a member of the genus Squalodon, Zarhinocetus errabundus (long-nosed whale) would have closely resembled a modern long-nosed Ganges River dolphin, rather than the short-beaked marine dolphins we are accustomed to seeing today. Specimens of this species are typically limited to a tooth or sometimes a petrosal, with bones being found less often and skulls rarely found. This skull was recently on exhibit at the Buena Vista Museum of Natural History in Bakersfield, California. Measures 30.5 x 7 x 7in
