AN UNUSUAL SILVER-MOUNTED DOUBLE-BARRELLED TURN-OVER FLINTLOCK SPORTING GUN PROBABLY GERMAN, MID-18TH CENTURY With 30 ¾ in. (78 cm.) two-stage sighted barrels, one rifled with eight grooves, the other smoothbore, each with silver fore-sight and gold-lined touch-hole, rounded back-action lock, figured walnut stock comprising butt inlaid with a silver wire rococo shell around the barrel-tang (some wire inlay loose), and full length fore-end fillets between the barrels, silver mounts including trigger-guard engraved with a shell and with the barrel-release catch in front, and scroll engraved butt-plate, and silver ramrod-pipes (ramrod lacking) and fore-end plates 47 ¼ in. (120 cm.) overall
