AN OUTSTANDING PAIR OF LARGE ZITAN COMPOUND CABINETS AND HAT CHESTS, SIJIANGUI LATE QING DYNASTY Each cabinet is fitted with panel doors opening from the removable center stile to reveal the shelved interior. The doors are elaborately carved with dragon roundels above friezes of deer in landscapes and qilin and phoenixes amidst clouds, all above a further three-part frieze framing Buddhist lions and a phoenix. The square-section legs are joined by shaped aprons carved with chilong confronted on a shou character. Each hat chest is similarly carved with roundels and reserves of dragons amidst clouds. 96 in.
