THE CHAPTER INSCRIBED PAUL BUHRE, 19TH CENTURY
An ormolu-mounted porcelain garniture the chapter inscribed Paul Buhre, 19th Century The clock with eight day twin barrels movement with strike on bell, stamped for Japy Frères, on six feet, the base with four panels of turquoise ground porcelain, with gilt strap-work, red and white beading, a classical mask applied at the front, with acanthus foliage around the base of the body, the porcelain chapter with Roman numerals, a bird among flowers at the centre, above a porcelain plaque depicting musicians on turquoise grounds, flanked by cherub scrolls and surmounted by turquoise porcelain urn with lion mask handles and Cupid finial, with a pair of four-light candelabra en suite, marked on the movement the clock 16 in. (41 cm.), the candelabra approximately 18¾ in. (46.5 cm.) high (3)
