An Italian Renaissance-style hall chair Print Late 18th/early 19th century, of walnut carved and all-over inlaid with bone, mother-of-pearl, brass and various fruitwoods, the crested rectangular back centered by an engraved bone panel depicting a guard carrying an ewer, supported between two inlaid twisted pilasters raised on baluster supports, over an outset rectangular seat centered by a carved bone panel depicting figures enjoying a fest, supported by dual sphinxes at the front and dual twisted pilasters verso connected by a U-form base, on thin cushion feet, 39.75'' H x 17.25'' W x 18'' D, Provenance: The Estate of Dr. Paul E. Keith III, Las Vegas, NV. Condition: General marks, scratches, cracking and separation at joints commensurate with age. Scattered repairs and spots of fill, including glued repairs to seat stretchers and legs and an approximately 5'' x 2.5'' area of replaced timber and inlay to crest. Evidence of woodworm.
