AN INSCRIBED RECTANGULAR DUAN INK STONE
DATED KANGXI CYCLICAL GUISI YEAR, CORRESPONDING TO 1713 AND OF THE PERIOD
AN INSCRIBED RECTANGULAR DUAN INK STONE DATED KANGXI CYCLICAL GUISI YEAR, CORRESPONDING TO 1713 AND OF THE PERIOD The ink stone is smoothly polished with a recessed inkwell below a grinding surface incised with a coin motif, a character, and a seal. The reverse is carved with a second griding surface below a concave inkwell. One side is incised with an inscription signed Wang Shu (1688-1743) and dated to 1713, the opposite side is incised with a five-character inscription, Shiyizhai zhengcang , ‘Collection of Shiyizhai ’, followed by two seals. Accompanied by Momiyama Isyou’s Juxingyan scroll. Inkstone: 4 3/4 in. (12.2 cm.) long, Japanese wood box Handscroll: 8 by 223 1/2 in. (20.2 by 563 cm.), ink and colour on paper, Japanese wood box
